Type has Form
The project requirements were to create a large scale paper construction of a given letter
(in my case, "B") and choose a font to represent it in.
The first "B" I chose to abstract and split the two halves, mirroring the second half to face the first. I used thick paper curls to represent the way the "B" in Bodoni has a serif that creates a forward movement. It also seemed a bit more elegant to me so the curls were appropriate.
In this example, the Futura font was used. I exemplified the geometric, angular shapes of the typeface to make a series of sharp angles and create some interesting shapes with the negative space.
I used a lowercase "b" in the typeface Clarendon because I really enjoyed the movement of the serifs. I abstracted these and gave it an accelerated look.
