I can hardly believe that spring semester begins on Monday. I had my final exam for my winter intercession class and a few things due for work yesterday. It was snowing the whole way during my commute to and from. The tree in my front yard looks beautiful in every season. I love the way that the trees expose the sky in the winter.
This is the tree that's an umbrella for my house.

I think it's important to take some time every once in a while, or however often you need, and make something without thinking about anything, just going off of pure intuition and maybe your own personal aesthetic. This free-form creativity helps relax me when I'm feeling a lot of pressure from my projects for work or school. Might not make sense or look great but they are things I can come back to for ideas, and just to remember what I was thinking when I made them, as these things are usually more personal than most of my work.
